24 hours to go

Okay I realize it has been a lifetime since I last posted something and I apologize. I think about it all the time but I end up getting caught up in my day and it never happens. However, I find myself with a little time on my hands and a couple dreams to share.

These dreams were separate but they do go together. As most of you probably do know I will be heading up to Boise in the next few weeks to visit Miss Whit with Karinne. On this adventure, a much anticipated BSB concert will occur. I can't wait! So now that you know the back story I will start but bear with me, these dreams are from a couple nights ago so I will try to remember as much as possible...

#1: Whitney and I are trying to make our way to the concert. However, instead of the concert being in Boise it is in Cuba...and the only way to get there is by cruise ship. So Whitney and I are on this rain forest themed ship just trying to navigate our way to the top deck so we can find the exit. Then my parents show up a couple of floors above us leaning over the railing pointing in all different directions and yelling opposite ways to go (both claiming that they know the right way out).

That is when I woke up...
and the fell back asleep

#2: We were no longer on a cruise ship en route to Cuba but in Layton at the mall. I was inside the mall talking with my friend Lee who was taking care of a little girl. He told me that the girls mother was horrible and that she hated to be with her so I needed to watch her while Lee worked behind the customer service desk (which was in a back hallway away from the main part of the mall where only employees are allowed...still trying to figure that one out). So I am taking care of this girl until her mother comes. She picks up her daughter who then starts crying and takes her away. I look at Lee and say "See ya!"

Thats when I walked outside and over to my car where I see Karinne, Whitney and 2 unidentified others sitting with the windows rolled down and the air conditioning on full blast. Karinne says, "We were too hot waiting for you in the car so we rolled down the windows but it was still too hot so we turned on the air conditioning and now you are almost out of gas." I looked at the gauge which said empty and said, "Thats okay. There has to be a gas station around here somewhere." (So I lived in Layton most of my life and I know where all the stations are but for some reason I couldn't recall their locations.)

We start driving..I mean puttering..around the city when I see a sign for a station however we do not have enough gas to get over there. I get the marvelous idea that driving the car through the elementary schools between us and the station would be good. So that is what we did.

Before we know it, we are being tailed by every cop in the state. We ended up going through at least 5 different school...they were never ending...up the stairs, through the halls and classrooms, dodging all the little kids along the way. We finally ditched the cops and that is when I woke up...again, The chase lasted a long time and somehow we had enough gas to last. Go figure.

I've moved!

For the past little while my mom has been constantly asking me if I want to move from my current room down to the basement. So the room downstairs has served mainly as a guest room for the last little while but its also where my family stays when they move back in with my parents (both brothers moved back in for a few months). So the room once again became available a few weeks ago and I got to thinking about it and decided that it makes more sense to move down there.

My current room is extremely small and right down the hall from my parents room. The bathroom is tiny as well. So I talked to my mom and we decided to start working on moving all my stuff down to the extra room. I was really excited and documented the process (well the before and after anyway). So here it is!

This is my room before I moved...

It was a teeny, tiny room that I could hardly move around in and it had way too much furniture. It was really functional and it started to get on my nerves. It felt really cramped and wasn't all that comfortable as a primary room. During school I was only staying there on the weekends and it worked fine but being there day after day wasn't the greatest situation.
Even though I don't feel this way at all my mom was kind of feeling like her and my dad were kind of pushing me down to the basement so she said we need to make it as comfortable as possible. I was really wanting a desk which is something that would never have fit in my old room no matter what and my parents wanted to kind of get me an entertainment center so me and my mom headed off to Ikea on Sunday. Then after two and a half trips to Target and a lot of tiring work this is the result...

So in actuality I only got about 60 extra square feet but it feels so much bigger that what I had before. I don't know how much longer I will live at home but this is going to be so much better until that happens (not that I don't love my mom and dad).

It's hard to make an airport out of bananas...

I had a pretty good weekend. On Friday I went to my favorite Chinese restaurant in Layton called Royal Jade. I miss a lot about living in Layton but Royal Jade is on the top of the list of what I miss the most.

On Saturday I went to the planetarium with my parents because they wanted to see the 3D Hubble telescope movie. I was a serious astronomy geek when I was little so I will admit that I enjoyed the movie as well even though it gave me a headache because it was in 3D. However, the effect was pretty awesome.

Me and my mom had a little too much fun finding out exactly how much we would weigh on Jupiter, Saturn, the moon, Pluto, etc...it said on an asteroid together we would weigh 19 ounces and would float away which made me question the accuracy of Armageddon and Bruce Willis' asteroid walking abilities.

Then we went to CPK for lunch and walked over to Sur La Table to look for a gift for my grandma. I love that store and we found some really great things that she ended up loving. Then we drove back home, listening to Glee all the way! I love that my dad enjoys the music as much as I do.

Last night I was getting ready for bed when Step Up came on TV. I don't yet own that movie so I got so excited when I saw it.

It's wonderful :)

This morning I slept in til 10:30. When I turned on my television to help wake me up the Little Rascals was on and had just started which brought a smile to my face. So many great childhood memories associated with that movie. Then I got ready and hung out at my house til we drove back down to Salt Lake to go to dinner with my whole family. We went to Trolley Square and ate at the Spaghetti Factory which is always delicious. My grandma gave me $50 for graduation! She's too cute.

After we left the restaurant we drove through the city to find this really cool consignment shop. It's over by the capitol so we drove through the avenues to get to the freeway. I love the avenues. It such a cool part of the city with really historic and beautiful houses like this one

Hopefully I can afford a house like this one day!

Then we drove home in the rain and now I am just relaxing. I think I am getting sick. I woke up with a sore throat and my glands have been swollen for that past couple of days. I hope I feel better tomorrow. For now I think I am going to turn in early and hope to get a little more sleep than I have been.

WICKED

So last night I had the best dream and as I was dreaming I thought I need to tell Whitney about this.
So Whitney--this post is for you!

My dream was that Whitney and I were walking into this giant amphitheater to see Wicked. I guess I am extremely excited to see it at the end of the month (fingers crossed that I all works out perfectly). So we walked into the theater which had groups of seats that were facing all different directions. I couldn't exactly figure that one out but we had to navigate our way through this maze of seats. We walked by my friend Tyler who was sitting in a seat facing the opposite direction of the stage and at the bottom of a hill between him and the stage. I don't know what was going on but it was a "Dr. Suess-like" set up. And I can't figure out why Tyler was there. I haven't seen this kid since high school--random!

Whitney and I finally get to our seats, which no joke are 2 rows back from the stage. But for some reason we got to sit in bleachers instead of the nice, fold down chairs like Tyler was sitting in....so much of this dream doesn't make sense haha.

So we are sitting on the bleachers and the musical starts and all of the sudden the characters are singing and come out into the audience and start messing with our hair and giving us hugs and stuff. Then the girl who plays Elphaba comes over and Whitney jumps over me to get closer to her. It took me by such surprise! I guess she really wanted a hug from Elphaba lol

That is when I woke up, LAUGHING!

More Funny Pictures

It's been so long since I've had a post like this. Here are some pictures that I took last weekend.

I went home and took some time to go shopping with my mom and my brother's fiance, Sue last weekend. We went to the quilted bear and saw a picture that my mom fell in love with. I picked it up and was carrying it around the store while we were still shopping. My mom said to me, "Kym, look on the back of the picture." I just had to take a picture right then of what she was talking about and here it is...
If you didn't notice, it's the three little words at the top of the label. Did they really have to make sure people knew this? I mean--DUH!

So then we went to dinner and I needed to stop at Walgreens on our way home. They had a rack of little baby t-shirts and this one caught my eye.

I just thought it was a tad inappropriate for a little one.

T-O-R-T-U-R-E

So I'm not in love with my theater class that I am taking. It is just a 1010 class so, although it is easy, its very tedious and annoying. Not to mention all the freshman in the class that are driving me nuts. Anyway, this week we finally got to musicals! I thought my teacher was going to just ignore the subject. But she didn't! She actually invited a student who does nothing but study musicals to come and talk about the history behind Broadway and the shows that have appeared there over the years.

If it wasn't obvious by my post title...it was complete TORTURE! I want to go to New York so bad!!!!!! So sitting there listening to the lecture and watching all of the clips from shows was horrible. We talked about shows like Show Boat, Oklahoma, Carousel, Annie Get Your Gun, South Pacific, The King and I, Damn Yankees, Chicago, Cabaret, My Fair Lady, Camelot, West Side Story, The Music Man, Hair, Chorus Line, Gypsy, Company, A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum, Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, Cats, Phantom, Les Mis, Rent, Spring Awakening, Wicked, Next to Normal....I could go on but you get the point.

Most of the clips we saw were from revivals but there were quite a few with the original cast. It was awesome! The best two days in that class by far. But it just makes me that much more depressed that I still have never been to New York so I decided to set a goal. I will make it to New York and see at least 2 shows on Broadway in the next two years! Anyone want to join me?

Hello Hello!

Last night was awesome! I absolutely love this show and it has been on hiatus for the past 4 months! That's such a long time...especially considering it's not even summer! Anyway so Whitney, Gwen, Karinne, Sara, Erin and I had a little Glee party last night to celebrate this momentous occasion.
PURE HAPPINESS!

I keep thinking times will never change--Keep on thinking things will always be the same

There is so many things in my life that are about to change and I am growing a little anxious about it all. I have been going to school every year of my life since I was 3 years old. That is 19 years. I have always know what I will be doing at the end of each school year. However now that I am graduating in a month, I'm a little nervous about growing up and venturing out into the real world. I don't know what to expect that that is a little scary.

I remember when I was in high school and during my junior year I couldn't wait to graduate and get out of there. But when my senior year was coming to a close I started to feel the way I am now. I wanted the last month or so to pass by as slowly as possible, I guess because I didn't really know what I was headed for. There were also many significant events that happened during the summer between high school and college that completely changed my life. Most of them I wish hadn't happened and things could just go back to the way they were before. Now, since I am about to come upon a similar time in my life, I am just afraid that my life is going to change so drastically again. I know it sounds a little silly but that is how I feel.

So don't get me wrong, I am extremely excited to graduate from college. I never really thought my high school graduation was anything special. I didn't have pictures taken or stay out all night with my friends like the others did. As soon as I got my diploma I left the ceremony. Looking back now there are definitely things that I would have done differently. But now that I am getting a degree after 4 years and all of that money (thanks mom and dad lol) I really feel a sense of accomplishment. I didn't have to go to college and now that I am finished I can see how special that is and I will be taking full advantage of my graduation day. I have also decided to stop stressing about getting a job. I'm going to look at it as an adventure because I know that no matter what, I always have people around that will be there for me!

My new grown up bedding!

This is some new bedding that my mom bought me this weekend. My old bedding was kind of a tan color that had orange, brown, yellow and rust colors in it. I loved it when I first bought it but lately it has been looking kind of drab and old. So my mom came to me this weekend with a catalog and pointed to this bed set and asked if I liked it. I said "Yeah it's cute." Then she said "Good lets get it for you!"

Haha my mom is the best. So we went to the store the next day and picked it up. It was on sale from $280 down to $140! It came with a comforter, bed skirt, 2 euro shams, 2 regular shams and 4 accent pillows! It was such a great price for all that I got and I'm so happy with it.

The tan flowers are pieces of fabric that have been cut out and kind of embroidered on and there is brown piping all around the tan border. The whole thing feels like raw silk which is probably my favorite part. Its gorgeous and I couldn't be happier. Plus, since my old sheets didn't exaclty match my mom also got me some new ones. They are a really dark chocolate brown color and are made from egyptian cotton so they are super soft. I have never been so excited to go to sleep than I was last night! Thanks mom!

In West Philidelphia, Born and Raised...

I came home today and was watching TV with my roommate. She was on her computer and looked up from the screen and said, "Will Smith is considering a career in politics..." My first thought was "Really? The Fresh Prince of Bel Air?" But then I got thinking about it and why not? I mean we have the Terminator as the governor of California, and Sonny from Sonny and Cher was in politics. It is just not a path I can see Will Smith going down but if he wants to--more power to him. So as we were discussing it we decided that if Will Smith ever does run for anything we would probably vote for him. Can you picture it? Will Smith in office--making speeches, voting on bills, schmoozing with the general public. And every time he walks out at a public event the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme song plays! That would be totally awesome!

Too funny!

Today in my Buyer Behavior class we were talking about the relationship between religion and branding...kind of a random subject because we started out this week talking about cultures and then got off on this tangent. Anyway, we started talking about the advertising history of different religions and the LDS church was the one we focused on the most. My teacher decided to show us how they market themselves to members and non-members. She showed us the website http://www.mormon.org which is targeted for non-members. Then she showed us http://www.lds.org which is for members of the church. On that site's homepage was a link for the youth version of the site. She clicked on the link and up popped a warning page saying "THIS CONNECTION IS NOT TRUSTED." The entire room was laughing hysterically. Then it took my teacher about 3 tries to finally view the page. It made my day!

Beautiful

We tend to get a lot of fog in Logan and last night we got some. This morning when it lifted it left a thick layer of frost on all the trees . It was gorgeous and it made me smile every time I saw somebody who couldn't resist pulling out their cell phones to snap a picture. I was one of those people. This willow tree was too beautiful to ignore.

I love Cutsie Cakes!

Last summer I noticed a little shop on Main Street in Layton that was under construction. The sign said "Cutsie Cakes" in this cute font and bright colors. Me and Heather, a girl I worked with, couldn't wait for it to open so we could try some of their cupcakes. It totally reminded me of the TV show What I Like About You and the bakery Sugar Babies. So today I went to visit my old work and decided to stop by Cutsie Cakes on my way home. The store is so adorable! They have all the cupcakes for sale right on the counter underneath these glass cake covers and each cupcake is perfectly decorated. I decided to get two chocolate with peanut butter icing, one red velvet, and one chocolate with vanilla icing and a cherry on top. I got home and immediately cracked open the box and took out one of the chocolate peanut butter ones. OH MY GOODNESS!!!! It is AMAZING! The best cupcake I have ever had! Honestly it was so, so good. I really want to break into the others but I will wait. Oh and Heather, they were $2.50 a piece....and worth every penny!
